Product Description
The placenta is the link between pregnant mother and baby. Two arteries and one vein carry blood through the umbilical cord.
If the newborn becomes ill immediately after birth, a urinary catheter may be inserted.
A catheter is a long, flexible, hollow tube. An umbilical artery catheter (UAC) allows blood to be withdrawn from the baby at different times without the need for multiple needle sticks. It can also be used to continuously monitor your baby's blood pressure.
Umbilical vein catheters can be used in the following situations:
Babies are very immature.
The baby has intestinal problems and cannot breastfeed.
Babies need very strong medicine.
